DPC - Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University Hold Workshop for Youth on Happiness and Positivity

Dubai Press Club (DPC), in collaboration with Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), hosted a training workshop for youth on happiness and positivity using concepts derived from Ta’mulat fi Asa’adah Wl Ejabia (Reflections on Happiness and Positivity), a book by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The leadership training workshop, which was held as part of the of the ongoing Media National Youth Programme (MNYP), targeted Emirati students and young media professionals with the aim of inspiring them to utilize positive thinking to unlock success. The workshop underscored the importance of having a happy and positive mindset and how it can help to fuel productivity, performance and achievement.

Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), led the workshop held at Dubai Press Club, where he discussed the 12 scientific and practical lessons given by His Highness in his book, Reflections on Happiness and Positivity.

“It was a delight to interact with young Emiratis, who during the event learned about the connection between happiness and positivity and their impact on productivity, innovation, and directing human competencies, in line with the country’s overall development process under the wise guidance of our leaders,” said Dr Al Awar, following the workshop.

“The gathering was aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who taught us to use positivity in life to achieve success and excellence,” he added.

Dr. Al Awar, who is also the Chairman of the Governing Board of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), said he was honored to be part of the elite lecturers of the second Media National Youth Programme. “The session served as a pioneering platform to equip our young media talents with the latest knowledge, skills, and values needed to do their job more efficiently, professionally, and objectively. Additionally, it also served as a venue where we could promote happiness and positivity in our young people, who will be our future leaders as we continue our march towards growth and development.”

From his part, Salem Belyouha, Acting Director of Dubai Press Club, praised the collaboration between DPC and Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University. He also praised the role of the university in promoting the culture of innovation, excellence and scientific research in the UAE and the region through E-education. “HBMSU has become one of the most credible educational institutions thanks to its excellent academic and professional programmes that meet the current and future needs of the market and are in line with the requirements of the labor market in the UAE,” he said.

Belyouha added that the second edition of the Media National Youth Programme features distinguished lecturers, academics and leading media personalities with thorough experience in the educational field who will help provide participants with a broad range of professional skills and knowledge.

 

Workshop

The training included a detailed presentation about His Highness’s vision of happiness and positivity through 12 scientific and practical lessons explained in his book. During the session, Dr. Al Awar provided participants with an analytical approach to the concepts shared by His Highness using excerpts from his book. The workshop began with an introduction to the four basic concepts of happiness and positivity based on their scientific significance. It also presented a historical overview of the various concepts of happiness among European and Arab scientists and philosophers. The session further explored the relationship between happiness and positivity and its impact on productivity, in addition to harnessing positive energy for success.

Dr. Al Awar also shared examples on how positivity led to transforming the UAE desert into an international tourist destination and building the Dubai Airport among other big projects in Dubai.

HH Sheikh Mohammed’s book includes lessons, examples and stories based on a different life philosophy: positivity as a perspective, and happiness of people as a goal and a lifestyle. In the book, His Highness answers a lot of profound questions on development based on his personal knowledge and experience in a narrative that is attractive for youth.

Running until July 2019, the Media National Youth Programme, is a joint initiative of Dubai Press Club and Watani Al Emarat Foundation, which aims to create a comprehensive platform for young Emirati media professionals to enhance their knowledge, expertise and skills in media. The Programme features a series of workshops in collaboration with leading academic and media institutions in the country.
