Dubai Press Club to Hold Fifth Emirati Media Forum

100 distinguished media and social media personalities to participate in the event

 

Dubai Press Club has announced that it will be holding the fifth edition of the Emirati Media Forum (EMF) on May 20, 2019 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Jumeirah with the participation of 100 distinguished media and social media personalities. The prominent media event is being organised under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Key Emirati Media figures, managing editors, editor-in-chiefs of local newspapers, senior writers, thinkers and a group of intellectuals, academics and media students will attend and participate in the one-day Forum.

Dubai Press Club, organiser of the Forum, will be taking a new approach this year by bringing together 100 media and social media figures together under one roof to discuss different topics within the media field in an open and transparent discussion.

In its fifth edition, the Emirati Media Forum will feature four main sessions which will discuss topics such as the future of local media and its ability to compete regionally an internationally, the challenges that facing the media industry in the next few years and the importance of staying abreast with the latest technologies in order to ensure the advancement of UAE media. The Forum will also have a special focus on the impact of Emirati social media influencers in the UAE and the content being produced on social media networks.

Another part of the discussion will explore ways to advance local media and ensure it carries a strong, cohesive discourse. The Forum aspires to establish an innovative dialogue platform focusing on the significant role of local media as an active partner in achieving the ambitious vision of the UAE.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, President of the Dubai Press Club, said the fifth Emirati Media Forum is being presented differently this year, and will feature an open discussion between 100 media and social media figures. “The fifth edition of the Forum has been organised in a way that will help provide a wider scope for discussion and exchange of ideas on important topics concerning the local media and the role of media in supporting the community’s best interests,” she said.

Al Marri stressed the significance of Emirati media, and said that the country requires a strong media that is able to support all the developments and progress taking place in the UAE. She added that the Forum is an opportunity to assess the progress of our local media and the extent to which it has been able to keep up with developments and adapt to the requirements of the future.

Al Marri pointed out that through the participation of 100 media and social media figures, EMF will give an in-depth look into the present and future of the UAE media. “The event will serve as a platform to analyse the current reality of local media and answer several questions related to the sector, such what is expected from our local media, what opportunities are available for it and what are the challenges it faces.”

The Emirati Media Forum is considered a unique platform for dialogue between players across the media spectrum. It provides an opportunity to discuss developments in the media industry as well as local and regional issues, while providing a bridge of communication between local media organisations, journalists, experts and specialists in various fields of media. It also seeks to give local media outlets insights and knowledge on how they can develop the leadership capabilities required to excel and sustain their growth.
