Media Professionals Learn How to Build Media Presence in DPC-LinkedIn Workshop

Dubai Press Club (DPC), in collaboration with the business-networking site LinkedIn, hosted an interactive workshop for Emirati youth titled “LinkedIn Best Practices for Media Professionals”. The one-day workshop, which offered insights on how to build a stronger presence on the platform, was held as part of the ongoing Media National Youth Programme, a joint initiative of Dubai Press Club and Watani Al Emarat Foundation.

Led by Marwan El Nemr, Public Sector Director at LinkedIn MENA, the session provided participants with practical tools to build their media presence, boost their personal brand and capitalise on the platform’s huge outreach to deliver superior online content.

Expressing his appreciation for the collaboration with DPC to deliver the session, Marwan Al Nemr said: "Our collaboration with DPC within the Media National Youth Programme reflects our keenness to develop the skills of the new generation of Emirati talent. The LinkedIn platform can bring new benefits and opportunities to Emirati youth, enabling them to not only explore jobs but also get a deeper understanding of the employment market and interact with individuals and relevant companies.”

Nemr also said LinkedIn allows students to receive career advice through professional interactions on the platform. “The platform is a rich source of information and data for aspiring young journalists. We encourage them to maximise their use of LinkedIn and connect with employers and professionals to enhance their network and career opportunities.”

According to recent reports, the UAE is among the most web-connected countries globally on the LinkedIn network with more than 25 million subscribers coming from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Director of Dubai Press Club Maitha Buhumaid said: “We are extremely pleased to be working closely with LinkedIn to enhance the career opportunities of Emirati youth who are part of the programme, especially at a time when the media sector is experiencing rapid changes and technological developments. This requires spreading knowledge on new tools and ideas and being prepared for the requirements of the future.”

She further stressed DPC’s keenness to refine the skills of journalists and share best practices within the media field.

His Excellency Dherar Belhoul, Director General of Watani Al Emarat Foundation, highlighted the positive impact of the Media National Youth Programme on the UAE media sector. “Our partnership with the Dubai Press Club underscores our commitment to prepare a generation of Emirati media professionals who can be leaders in the evolving media field,” he said, adding that the Foundation was proud to partner with DPC to organise such a successful programme.

LinkedIn is considered the world's largest professional network with more than 610 million users in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Launched in April, the second edition of the Media National Youth Programme aims to create a comprehensive platform for young Emirati students and media professionals to enhance their knowledge, expertise and skills in media. The Programme features a series of workshops in collaboration with leading academic and media institutions in the country.
